What to Expect

A New Church. An Ancient Faith. A Place to Belong.

Welcome to Heritage Covenant Church! We are a new church in Deer Park, Washington, seeking to establish a faithful, Christ-centered congregation rooted in the historic Christian faith.

We are in our earliest days, and our beginnings are humble. We meet in a rented facility, set up our worship space each Sunday, and are growing together as a community of believers.

We don't have all the programs, facilities, or resources of an established church, but we are committed to what matters most: the faithful preaching of God's Word, the worship of our triune God, prayer, discipleship, and genuine Christian fellowship.

Whether you are exploring Christianity, looking for a church home, or simply curious about Reformed worship, we would be glad to have you join us.

When We Gather

Sunday School — The Heritage Way | 9:30 AM

Our Sunday morning begins with The Heritage Way, our discipleship pathway designed to help believers grow in their knowledge of Christ, their understanding of Scripture, and their faithfulness in everyday life.

Lord's Day Worship | 10:30 AM

We gather as God's people to worship Him through Scripture, prayer, congregational singing, and the preaching of His Word.

We encourage you to arrive a few minutes early, get settled, and meet some of the people who make up our growing congregation.

Our Worship: Historic, Ordered, and Christ-Centered

Our worship is simple, reverent, joyful, and rooted in the historic Christian and Reformed tradition.

We follow an ordered liturgy, meaning that our worship service has an intentional, Scripture-shaped structure. Rather than treating worship as a collection of songs, announcements, and a sermon, we understand the entire service as a unified encounter between God and His gathered people.

Throughout Christian history, the church has worshiped through Scripture readings, prayers, confession of sin, the proclamation of God's grace, preaching, congregational singing, and the Sacraments. We seek to continue in this historic pattern.

Our liturgy follows four movements that reflect the gospel:

God Gathers

God calls His people into His presence through His Word. We respond with praise, prayer, and adoration.

God Gives Grace

We acknowledge our sin before a holy God and hear the assurance of forgiveness through Jesus Christ. We respond with gratitude for His mercy.

God Speaks

God addresses His people through the reading and preaching of Scripture. We listen, learn, and respond in faith and obedience.

God Sends

Having been nourished by His Word, we receive God's blessing through the benediction and are sent into the world to serve Him faithfully.

Our worship includes congregational singing of psalms, historic hymns, and biblically faithful songs. The emphasis is on the congregation worshiping together rather than watching a performance.

If you are unfamiliar with liturgical worship, don't worry. Our order of worship helps guide you through the service, and you are welcome to follow along as you become familiar with it.

What Should I Wear?

Come as you are!

You'll find people dressed in everything from casual clothing and jeans to business casual attire. Some may dress a little more formally, but there is no dress code or expectation to wear something particular.

We want you to feel comfortable joining us as we gather to worship the Lord.

What About Children?

Children belong in the worshiping congregation.

At Heritage Covenant Church, we believe that children are an important part of the covenant community and should grow up worshiping alongside their parents and the wider church family.

For this reason, we practice intergenerational, family-integrated worship. Children remain with their families throughout the Lord's Day service, participating as they are able in the prayers, singing, Scripture readings, and preaching of God's Word.

This is not simply a reflection of our current size or resources. It is an intentional conviction about the nature of the church and the spiritual formation of our children.

We believe children learn to worship by worshiping. Through regular participation in the gathered congregation, they become familiar with the language of Scripture, the songs of the church, the rhythm of worship, and the preaching of the gospel.

We also understand that children are children! Little ones wiggle, make noise, and sometimes need a break. We welcome families with young children and encourage patience and grace as they learn to participate in worship.

Nursery and Toddlers

As a new church plant meeting in a rented facility, we do not currently offer a staffed nursery or toddler program. Parents remain responsible for their young children during our gatherings.

Children's Catechism and Christian Education

As our congregation grows, we plan to introduce age-appropriate catechism classes to help children learn the foundational doctrines of the Christian faith through Scripture and the historic Reformed catechisms.

These classes will take place outside the corporate worship service. We will not offer a separate children's worship service because we believe the gathered worship of the church is for the whole covenant community, young and old together.

Our desire is to partner with parents in raising children who know the Lord, understand His Word, and grow in faithfulness to Christ.

Your children are not an interruption to church life. They are part of it, and we are glad to worship alongside them.

A Church in Its Early Days

When you visit, you'll notice that we're still getting established. Our worship space is rented, our setup is simple, and many of the things that come with an established congregation are still developing.

We see this season as an opportunity to build something meaningful together—not merely an organization, but a community of believers growing in faith, love, and service to Christ.

Our desire is not to build a church around impressive facilities or an abundance of programs. We want to build a congregation grounded in Scripture, committed to one another, and faithful across generations.

We invite you to come and be part of these early days.

Getting Connected

Church life is about much more than attending a Sunday service. We desire to be a community where people know one another, pray for one another, grow together, and walk alongside each other through life's joys and difficulties.

Along with Sunday worship and The Heritage Way, we are developing opportunities for fellowship and discipleship, including Covenant Men and Covenant Women gatherings.

You don't need to have everything figured out, understand Reformed theology, or be ready to make a commitment before visiting. Come, get to know us, ask questions, and discover what we believe and why.

We Would Love to Meet You

There is something special about being part of a church's beginning. We are grateful for what the Lord is doing and look forward to seeing how He will establish and grow this congregation in the years ahead.

Our beginnings may be humble, but our hope is great because our hope is in Jesus Christ.

We would be delighted to welcome you this Sunday.
