Building a Heritage of Faith

Be part of a new church plant forming through worship, discipleship, and shared life in North Spokane County.

Our Mission

Our mission is to glorify God by forming a worshiping community shaped by the faithful ministry of Word, Sacraments, and prayer.

We invite you to join us as we grow in mind, heart, and life—discipling our families, loving our neighbors, and making disciples who make disciples—building a lasting heritage of faith for generations to come.

Why walk with us?

This is a unique opportunity to help form a church from the ground up—not through hype, pressure, or quick expansion, but through worship, discipleship, hospitality, prayer, and shared life.

At Heritage Covenant Church, we are seeking to build a Christ-centered covenant community rooted in historic Reformed faith and shaped by intentional discipleship.

If you desire biblical depth, meaningful relationships, reverent worship, family discipleship, and a faith that shapes everyday life, we invite you to walk with us as we lay a foundation for generations to come.

Who is this for?

Heritage Covenant Church is for individuals and families in Spokane, North Spokane, Deer Park, and nearby communities who are seeking a biblically grounded, confessionally Reformed church rooted in Scripture, reverent worship, covenant discipleship, hospitality, and shared life.

It is also for those who love Christ and Scripture but may feel cautious about church because of past experiences with unhealthy leadership, shallow programs, or impersonal religious systems.

For Those Cautious About Church

A Slower, Healthier Way to Begin

We understand that many people have complicated experiences with church. Some have seen churches become overly institutional, political, controlling, impersonal, or unhealthy. Others still love Christ, love Scripture, and value Christian fellowship, but feel hesitant about becoming part of another formal church structure.

Heritage Covenant Church is beginning slowly for that reason. We are not trying to build a religious machine. We are gathering people around Scripture, prayer, hospitality, honest conversation, and real Christian relationships.

At the same time, we believe Jesus does not call His people to follow Him in isolation. The Christian life is personal, but it is not private. Christ gathers His people into a body, forms them through His Word, strengthens them through prayer, and calls them to love, serve, forgive, and bear burdens together.

We also believe spiritual leadership must serve Christ’s people, not use them. Elders and leaders do not own the church or build their own kingdom. They serve under Jesus Christ, the only King and Head of the Church, by teaching the Word, guarding sound doctrine, caring for souls, protecting the vulnerable, and helping believers grow in faithfulness.

So if you are spiritually hungry but cautious about church, we would love to begin with a conversation. Come open the Bible with us. Share a meal. Ask questions. Pray with us. Get to know the people. There is no pressure to pretend, perform, or rush into commitment.

We are seeking to build slowly, humbly, and faithfully — not as another system to manage people, but as a covenant community learning to follow Christ together.

How we'll start

We are beginning by gathering people and forming a core community through discipleship before launching a full public Lord’s Day worship service.

Our primary rhythm in this season is The Gathering—a weekly gathering centered on shared meals, prayer, singing, Scripture, and intentional discipleship through The Heritage Way.

As we grow in unity, maturity, and readiness, we will move toward establishing regular Lord’s Day worship.

We are building slowly and intentionally—establishing relationships, cultivating trust, and seeking to grow as Christ forms His church through His Word, prayer, and shared life.

The Gathering

The Gathering is a simple, relational rhythm where our church gathers and grows together—singles, couples, families with children, and older saints alike. We share a meal, sing, pray, and are formed through God’s Word within the life of the church.

Children and youth receive age-appropriate instruction, while adults walk through The Heritage Way, our shared discipleship pathway, learning and applying Scripture together.

The Gathering is not simply another program, but a core rhythm of our covenant life together, where discipleship unfolds through hospitality, biblical teaching, prayer, and intentional relationships.

The Gathering is planned to begin Sunday September 6th as we prepare to establish regular Lord’s Day worship.

Our Formation Process

We are building Heritage Covenant Church through intentional discipleship and shared life, trusting that as relationships are established, the church will grow and, in time, multiply.

Phase 1

VISION CASTING

In this phase, we begin by sharing the vision of Heritage Covenant Church through personal conversations and informal gatherings across the Spokane region. Through hospitality, relationship-building, and open dialogue, we invite individuals and families to explore the formation of a gospel-centered, covenant community together.

Goal: Build strong relational connections and gather a group aligned with the mission, doctrine, and vision of the church.

(Fall 2025 – Spring 2026)

Phase 2

ROOTING

In this phase, we begin forming the core team and start the Heritage Way discipleship pathway with committed individuals and families. As we gather weekly—sharing meals, Scripture, prayer, and guided conversation—we establish a shared foundation in doctrine, life, and community. We call this The Gathering.

Goal: Establish a spiritually mature, unified core grounded in the word, prayer, and covenant life.

(Fall 2026)

Phase 3

FORMING

In this phase, as the community grows in unity and maturity through shared discipleship, leadership begins to emerge naturally from within the body. Individuals are equipped to serve in areas such as worship, hospitality, children’s discipleship, administration, and outreach through demonstrated faithfulness and growing responsibility.

Goal: Establish a unified, spiritually prepared leadership team with clear roles shaped by character, conviction, and shared life.

(Fall 2026 – Spring 2027)

Phase 4

ESTABLISH WORSHIP

In this phase, as the church matures in doctrine, unity, and leadership, we begin establishing regular Lord’s Day worship as the central gathering of the church.

Through continued discipleship, shared life, and developing ministry rhythms, we prepare for public worship rooted in the Word, the sacraments, and prayer.

Over time, those formed through this pathway are equipped to disciple others and, as the Lord provides, help establish new gospel communities in surrounding areas.

Goal: Establish Lord’s Day worship with a strong foundation for long-term faithfulness, stability, and growth.

(Spring 2027 – Fall 2027)

Heritage Way

Join the Heritage Way: Year One this summer to grow deep roots in the historic Christian faith and become part of the forming core of Heritage Covenant Church.

Ways to serve

God builds His church through ordinary people who are willing to pray, grow, serve, and walk together in faithfulness.

These are not positions of status or authority. They are practical areas of service that help the church plant grow in clarity, hospitality, order, worship, discipleship, and care. As HCC forms, we want service to arise from humility, maturity, and shared life—not pressure, platform-building, or rushed leadership.
