Discipleship

Building a Heritage of Faith Through Whole-Life Discipleship

At Heritage Covenant Church, discipleship is not merely a class, program, or season of study. It is the lifelong work of being formed into the image of Jesus Christ within the worship, relationships, and shepherding of the local church.

Christ forms His people through the ordinary means of grace—His Word, the Sacraments, and prayer—and within the shared, covenantal life of His church.

As believers worship together, receive biblical teaching, practice obedience, care for one another, and live faithfully within their God-given callings, Christ shapes what they believe, what they love, and how they live. We therefore pursue patient, unhurried formation rather than hurried spiritual activity.

Our aim is to see mature disciples formed, households strengthened, relationships deepened, and believers equipped to live faithfully in the home, church, vocation, and community.

Our discipleship program has two distinct but integrated pathways: The Heritage Way and Heritage Life.

The Heritage Way

Our Shared Pathway of Christian Formation

The Heritage Way is our church-wide, four-year discipleship pathway. It provides a shared foundation for growing in gospel clarity, covenant faithfulness, Christian maturity, credible witness, and service within the life and mission of the church.

Participants are formed through Scripture, prayer, theological reading, meaningful relationships, and practical obedience. The goal is not merely to complete material or acquire information, but to grow as faithful disciples whose lives are increasingly ordered under the lordship of Jesus Christ.

The Heritage Way helps us understand who we are in Christ, how we live together as His covenant people, and how we bear faithful witness in every sphere of life.

Heritage Life

Applying Our Shared Faith Within Our God-Given Callings

Heritage Life provides focused, three-year discipleship pathways for men and women that apply our shared faith to their particular callings, relationships, and responsibilities.

Through ministries such as Covenant Men and Covenant Women, participants learn to apply sound doctrine and a biblical worldview to the particular relationships, responsibilities, and opportunities God has entrusted to them.

These tracks cultivate biblical character, relational wisdom, household faithfulness, meaningful friendship, practical care, intergenerational discipleship, and faithful service within the ordered life of the church.

Heritage Life does not replace or compete with the congregation’s shared formation through The Heritage Way. The two pathways work together: The Heritage Way forms believers in the truths and practices shared by the whole church, while Heritage Life helps men and women embody those truths more intentionally within their particular callings.

One Shared Faith, Faithfully Lived

The Heritage Way provides our shared foundation. Heritage Life helps men and women apply that foundation more intentionally within their particular callings.

Together, they help cultivate a church in which disciples are:

  • rooted in Scripture and historic Reformed Christianity;

  • formed through Word, Sacraments, prayer, and covenant community;

  • growing in belief, love, and obedience;

  • living faithfully in home, church, vocation, and community;

  • caring for and discipling others; and

  • passing biblical faith and embodied wisdom to generations yet to come.

Our goal is not simply to move people through courses. It is to see Christ form mature disciples who love His church, live faithfully in every sphere of life, and help build a lasting heritage of faith for generations to come.
